Training at East Tilbury. - 1948
On his second visit to Britain, his first was with the Canadian Army in 1940, is John E Villeneuve, from Batawa. Twenty five years old, he joined the Canadian Army straight from school in 1939, and after seeing service in Europe in the Armoured Corps, returned home, and studied commerce and finance at Toronto University.
In the summer of 1946 he joined the Bata Organisation in Canada, and was trained in both the rubber and leather factories.
At present he is training for a month in the East Tilbury rubber factory, which will be followed by a further four weeks’ training at one of the French Bata factories, prior to his leaving to take up a post in French West Africa.
