Sergeant in 210 Squadron Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.Son of Horace Godfrey and Eliza Tann of Grays, Essex. Died on Monday 21st April 1941, aged 20.
After being reported missing along with the rest of the crew of an R.A.F. Sunderland Flying boat news was reported in the Bata Record of August 15th 1941 that his body had been recovered form the sea at Kincasslagh, County Donegal, Eire by a man who was out fishing. His identity was established from documents on the body and he was buried at the cemetery in Kincasslagh.
Prior to the War Horace Tann had been employed at East Tilbury in the Supply Department, becoming a Supplier in January 1939. He worked for the company for about two years and had volunteered for active service a few days after the outbreak of War.
